This programme places an emphasis on academic learning as well as employer knowledge and practice. It provides a fast track progression route for those who:
• Are currently studying professional qualifications and wish to proceed to a Master’s degree in business/management
• Have a related degree but wish to proceed to a Master’s level business/management qualification
• Are in employment, at managerial level, and wish to achieve a Master’s level qualification
Unique Nature of the Programme:
This Postgraduate Level programme is unique in that it incorporates the academic knowledge available within the particular areas of Business Management, and applies this knowledge to a specific and important business group in today’s business industry. The courses will focus on different types of companies, for example, high-tech ventures, start-ups and family businesses.
Furthermore, the college is currently exploring additional avenues for students enrolled onto this programme so that they can be offered the opportunity to translate the knowledge developed to a practical business situation. During this fast track 9 months academic programme, groups of students can opt to set up and manage their own student projects relating to setting up businesses. Alternatively, they can be linked to a small or medium-sized business or with the management team of a large corporate company, where available, to gain industrial experience.
Course Structure
The Postgraduate Diploma comprises five units:
• Strategic Business Management and Planning
• Organisational Resource Management
• Management of Financial Resources and Performance
• Leadership and Change Management
• Corporate Management in Action (integrative case student)
Assessment
Each unit requires two pieces of assessed work:
• an examination (marked externally by the awarding body)
• an assignment (marked internally by the college and scrutinised by the awarding body)
To pass the unit a pass mark of 40% or above is considered necessary for both pieces of assessed work. For example, achieving a mark of 70% in one piece of work and 35% in the other will not qualify for a pass.
Re-sits of any assessment that is not passed will be permitted.
Awarding Body:
The Postgraduate Diploma will be awarded by the Association of Business Executives.
Progression:
On successful completion of this programme, students may wish to seek exemptions/credits from the relevant academic stage of an appropriate MBA or MSC programme offered by a UK university. Other students may wish to seek suitable employment in business industry.
In addition to the above, LGC is currently exploring possibilities of direct progression with a British University to facilitate submission of the above referred dissertation. We will continue to update our students in this regard during discussions with the admissions coordinator on the premises.
Entry Requirements:
All candidates must have one of the following:
